We grew up on Fidalgo Island in Washington State. Like all fishing communities we knew the wonders and powers of the sea. In 1983 this power hit us hard; we lost our Father, Uncle, Cousin and 11 of our friends in a fishing boat tragedy that affected us and our whole community.
In the months that followed, our Gram comforted us with stories about the bunnies in her garden. Her stories helped us to get through the days and soothed us to sleep at night. Soon we started writing our own stories and making soft friends to go with them.
